Arrive in Vientiane, you will be met and transferred to domestic airport for departure to Luang Prabang. Then travel to hotel for check-in. In the afternoon, you will take a city tour of the most beautiful temples (built in 13th - 16th century) as Ho Pha Kep, the former royal temple, now a museum with beautiful examples of Buddhist sculpture; Wat Si Saket, the oldest surviving temple in town; Pha That Luang, a gilded Buddhist stupa also the national symbol. From 7:00 am till sunset, you will have great chance to take part the Lao New Year ceremonies. Lao New Year (or Pii Mai) is the liveliest holiday celebrated in Luang Prabang from April 13 to April 15, the hottest part of the year. So water is the main symbol of its. People use water to wash their homes, Buddha images, monks and even soak friends and passers-by, which is considered as a luck. Of three new year days, the second day is the most important because it is known as “the day of no day”, a day of transition that is neither part of the old nor the new year. Dinner on your own. After breakfast, you will pay a visit to Vat Xieng Thong (the most beautiful temple in the city, built in 1560), noted for its impressive sweeping roof. Then take traditional boat trip upstream on the Mekong river to visit the famous Pak Ou Caves (Tham Thing and Tham Phum) which houses thousands of Buddha statues since the 16th century, the caves were found by King Setthathirath. Return to Luang Prabang to see young girls dressed in traditional costume, monks and older people on pick-up trucks. Watch dancers and musicians. Dinner on your own. Overnight at the hotel.
