You will visit the famous temple, Wat Xieng Thong and enjoy the unique atmosphere provided by the abundance of well-oreserved Wedench colonial architecture mingling with traditional Buddhist temples. Spend the afternoon walking up Phousi hill and taking a spectacular sunset view over the Mekong and Khan Rivers and surrounding mountains. In the evening, stroll along the Mekong promenade and visit the colorful night market of the local Hmong minority. Overnight aboard cruise vessel.

Luang Prabang – Pak Ou

In the early morning you will have chance to watch the traditional alms-giving ceremony along the streets of Luang Prabang. Then, depart Luang Prabang to continue your spectacular cruise to the north, visit Laotian village and observe the traditional production of Lao-Lao, the local liqueur. Take a short walk through the jungle to explore Pak Ou Caves with thousands of Buddha images inside the caverns. Stop on a secluded river bank or sandbank to overnight.

The morning is time for you to relax on deck, in your comfortable cabin or in the lounge and immense yourselves in the untouched scenery as well as enjoy the fantastic landscapes along the river. In the afternoon, you will visit a small village school supported by guests of the Mekong River Cruises. Overnight on board.

Pakbeng

After breakfast, move to tropical hills in the background which offer astonishing landscapes. Enjoy the tranquility of northern Laos, a real retreat without the hustle and bustle of daily life as cruising along the river. Later, you will have a short stop in the market town of Pakbeng. Then, cruise along the green hills to head upstream towards Pak Tha. Spend the night on board.

Pak Tha – Huay Xay – Chiang Khong

After cruising to Pak Tha, you will take off on a long-tail boat excursion on the Namtha River to visit a Khmu village as well as a small village school sponsored by guests of the Mekong Sun. Then you will proceed to the Thai-Laotian border at Chiang Khong (Thailand) and Ban Huay Xay (Laos). Spend the last relaxing dinner and evening in Laos.

The Golden Triangle
